This section allows you to set options for logging events to a file for later inspection or archival purposes. The content of the log file is a selective subset of what is output to the log window.
OPTIONS
- Log events to the log window: When this option is set, events are logged to the log window.
- Capacity: Maximum number of lines to keep in the log window.
- Log events to this file: When this is checked, events are logged to a file.
- <text field>: Specify the name of file to use for writing events.
- <open icon>: Browse for a new log file.
- View: Open the targeted log file using the standard text viewer.
Do not modify or save the file while services are being monitored. Otherwise, recent log
events may be lost.
TIPS
- DO NOT edit installation log files (namely, install.log). This could corrupt the uninstallation procedure for this software.
- If an error occurs while accessing the log file, the error will be reported in the log window
and file logging will be automatically suspended until you check this option again.
- Whenever you choose a new log file, events will be appended to it. However, in order to
avoid accidental file corruptions, the file must meet one of the following requirements:
- It does not exist.
- It is empty.
- The product name occurs at the beginning of the file.
Otherwise, a "file access denied" error message will appear in the log window and file
